The studio
Studio Baby is designed to be a relaxed and welcoming space. Our big windows allow for lots of natural light and great people watching while you’re getting tattooed (although we’re always happy to close the blinds for more privacy!). The overall design is minimal, but the many plants and various artworks create a calm & cosy feel. The studio features a small seating area and has space for up to 3 artists. We have a small kitchen and offer complementary coffee, tea, water, lemonade and snacks to keep you comfortable throughout your appointment.
Accessibility information
-
Studio Baby is located on the ground floor, is single level, and has no steps at the entrance or anywhere else. We have smooth wood floors, no rugs, and any furniture can be moved to allow for easier access with anyone using mobility aids.
-
We have a very comfortable leather sofa, and its low level & deep seats are perfect for settling into and soothing your nerves. Alternatively, we have a solid wood chest (45cm/19” high) which offers seating more suitable for heavier or less mobile people. We also have multiple small stools and height adjustable swivel stools available.

-
You are always welcome to bring a carer, assistant or interpreter, and they can be present throughout your tattoo appointment. Dogs are also welcome, although please consider whether they can remain calm and seated, and whether they are okay with any other dogs that might be present.
You can also bring a friend or family member, but we appreciate if you ask us beforehand. The studio space is limited, so guests can be asked to leave if the studio gets too busy. There are many nice cafes and shops nearby to pass the time.

Physical
Our beds have thick padding, and we provide PU covered cushions for added comfort.
We also have a selection of fidget toys that you’re welcome to help yourself to.
We have Bactine numbing spray available if needed. If you’re considering applying numbing creme before your appointment, please discuss this with your artist first.
Privacy
There is a total of 3 tattoo stations, 2 are in the main area, and 1 is in a semi private room at the back of the building. There is no door, but an aluminium chain curtain gently separates the room, and on optional a solid fabric curtain provides full privacy.
In the main room, we have a privacy screen available (solid bamboo, so no gaps or sheer panels!) and can put down the window and door blinds.
Sound
We usually play music, but can turn this off on request.
Most of our artists use wireless tattoo pen machines, which are much quieter than traditional tattoo machines (think electric toothbrush sound). However, some artists use a coil machine which can be quite loud.
You’re welcome to put on headphones.
Light
The studio has ceiling spot lights, mood lighting, and wall mounted ring lights. The ring lights can be adjusted in brightness and colour. The ceiling lights can be turned off if needed, as the ring lights provide enough light for your artist to tattoo.
Scent
The products used during tattooing can be a bit intense (for example, alcohol will be used to clean your skin). We have bamboo scent diffusers in the studio that smell like vanilla, but they are not very strong.
-
Our private unisex toilet is adjacent to the main room and the door opening is 71cm/28” wide. There are grab rails on both sides of the toilet.
The bathroom floor area is 127cm/50” from door opening to toilet bowl and 83cm/33” wide. The bathroom door opens inwards, leaving a gap of 40cm/16” between the door and toilet bowl when fully opened.

There is very limited on-street parking available near the studio, so arriving by car can be tricky.
The nearest carpark is a 2 hour maximum stay at Morrisons on Dorset Street (a small staircase connects the parking lot to George Street). Other nearby carparks are NCP or Churchill Square, which are about a 15 minute walk from Studio Baby.
Brighton train station is a 20 minute walk away, and the nearest bus stops are St James Street (Stop J) and Law Courts (Edward Street), both situated a minutes walk from the studio.
